Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim of the Pharmacology course is to enable students to understand the effects of drugs, methods of use, potential side effects and interactions. During the course, students will learn about the various groups of drugs that are important in pharmacological principles, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics, drug interactions and dentistry applications. In addition, disinfectants, antiseptics and drugs used in emergencies, including special conditions. They will also gain practical skills such as prescription writing and pharmaceutical literature screening.
Content: Course Content; Introduction to Pharmacology and its basic principles, the effects and use of drugs, examines pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic issues. Then, a detailed examination of drugs that are important in dentistry such as antibiotics, analgesics and anesthetics is started. It is focused on various drug groups such as central nervous system, cardiovascular, endocrine and respiratory system drugs. In addition, special issues such as drugs affecting saliva and gums, anticoagulant drugs and disinfectants are discussed. Finally, students provide prescription writing and pharmacological literature scanning skills.
