Objectives and Contents

Objectives: Introduction to Behavioral Sciences course aims to examine the behavior of individuals and groups from a scientific perspective. This course aims to enable individuals to better understand themselves and their environment, to be more effective in social relations and to take human behavior into account in decision-making processes. It deals with human behavior in a multidimensional way with the contribution of social sciences such as psychology, sociology and anthropology. The main goal is to increase the individual's capacity to understand both himself and the people around him and to use this understanding to establish healthier relationships in social life, business and group relations.
Content: This course introduces the basic concepts for understanding the behavior of individuals and groups and discusses the relationship of behavioral sciences with sociology, psychology and anthropology. Individual-level psychological elements such as personality, self-perception, learning processes, emotions, attitudes and prejudices are examined, as well as factors that guide behavior such as perception, needs and motivation. The effects of cultural structures on individual behavior and social dynamics such as social interaction patterns, roles and social influences are also covered. In addition, it is aimed to contribute to both personal development and social relations of individuals by presenting solutions to situations encountered in daily life such as effective communication skills, conflict and stress management. The concept of leadership and current approaches in behavioral sciences are also discussed in the following weeks of the course, allowing students to evaluate human behavior in a multidimensional way.
