Objectives and Contents

Objectives: This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the applicability and recognition of customs legislation adopted by relevant countries in the context of foreign trade practices, with a particular emphasis on the regulatory framework and trade regime of Turkey.
Content: This course offers an in-depth examination of customs legislation and its foundational principles. It encompasses topics such as binding tariff and origin information, the structure and classification of goods within the customs tariff schedule, and the processes of duty assessment, notification, and payment. Additionally, the course addresses legal exemptions and exceptions in customs duties, regulations pertaining to port operations and warehousing, and the legal consequences of non-compliance with customs obligations. Further subjects include the legal and economic framework of free zones, the implications of the Customs Union for the Turkish economy, the influence of the World Trade Organization on Turkey’s foreign trade policies, and a detailed analysis of the Turkish Foreign Trade Regime as it applies to both agricultural and industrial products.
