General Information

Aim of the Program

In patients requiring dialysis treatment, patients receiving dialysis machine, follow-up and treatment, the dialysis process termination stages, is to educate health technicians to work in dialysis units. Health Professions High School graduate, students may opt for this program.

Target of the Program

Dialysis program within two years of education students; with basic medical science courses; anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, biophysics, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology and theoretical courses, vocational courses, which basically; principles of patient care, surgical diseases, treatment and care internal medicine, nephrology, dialysis theoretical and practical courses, as well as first aid, principles of nutrition, interpersonal relationships, deontology also take lessons.

Future of the Department

Dialysis Program, in diseases requiring dialysis treatment; operates in order to train intermediate staff who will work in dialysis units during the stages of taking the patient to the dialysis machine, follow-up, treatment and termination of dialysis processes.

According to the Regulation on Dialysis Centers (2019) published in the Official Gazette; "In the centers/units where hemodialysis is performed, the number of non-medical health personnel, which is the basis for operating permit, is determined according to the number of hemodialysis device in the center/unit. There are two non-medical health personnel for the first ten devices, and an additional health personnel for every five additional devices above this number." and “Centers/units have at least one non-medical health personnel for up to five patients in each treatment session, and an additional one for each subsequent five patients.” Pursuant to the articles of this article, it is obligatory to have non-medical health personnel, namely dialysis technicians, in public and private dialysis centers.

According to this, students who successfully complete the dialysis program can be placed in positions opened as dialysis technicians according to the results of the public personnel selection exam (KPSS), or they can work in private hospitals and dialysis centers. Due to the increase in population in our country, the need for health personnel is also increasing. Dialysis centers, the number of which has been increasing over the years, also shows that the potential job opportunities of the graduates of the program are increasing.

Students who want to study in the dialysis program must first be interested in biology and be successful in the course. In addition, it will be advantageous for the candidates to enjoy helping people, to be patient and careful with patients, to be calm people, to have a high sense of responsibility and to have strong communication skills.
