increasing globalization of the international trade and the efforts to join the common market have led to an increase in the logistic services provided to the companies and in the land-air-sea transportation. it’s inevitable for the companies engaged in this field to raise standards and qualities of their services. Logistics is efficient planning, implementation and supervision of services and products and every kind of information flow related to these, from the initial point of the raw material to the last point that the product is consumed, to meet the needs of customers. There is a need for qualified medium and high level staff to provide all these qualifications. Aim of this Department is to provide manpower for the sector of logistics and transportation, and also for the management of logistics in producer companies and business organizations.
in international Trade and Logistics Department, we have been aiming to train our students as to satisfy the need of the sector and form a high qualified work force which is sufficient for national and international arena, equipped with broad vision and core competence in her/his field with the efficiency to communicate in a foreign language and the capability to analyze/synthesize the sector by providing both national and international internship and research programs enabled with the cooperation between our Department and the private sector.
in recent years where global invesing activities are becoming intense and Turkey has emerged as an important actor in the international trade area, the need for well-supported work force both in international trade and logistics sectors are more than ever. in this sense, it is aimed for our graduates to meet the qualified work force deficit in our country. After the education where they develop capability to evaluate and implement all aspects of their field, international Trade and Logistics Department graduates can be employed in a wide range of firms and agencies particularly in those which specialized in export/import and logistics, in foreign exchange and finance deparments of the banks and in customs consultancies with promising positions. Moreover, our specialist graduates can also apply job examinations of the public sector since the legislation in force allow them.
Companies cannot progress without logistics infrastructure. It is the lifeblood of a logistics company and it will continue to exist by developing. For example, the most prominent sector in the COVID-19 pandema was the cargo sector. Especially in the days of insulation and in the period when the contact was minimized, it was revealed that it was a great need to order from the house. Here, the importance of logistics is once again emphasized. The perfect transportation to customers from warehouses can be achieved with a good logistics infrastructure.
