General Information

Aim of the Program

Mechatronics Engineering is a branch of engineering, which has been frequently referred to in the recent years and has become more required with the rising popularity of using smart systems and robots in the industry. Rapid development of mechanics, electronics, computer hardware and software industries and transition to smart systems in the industry enhanced with this development created the field of mechatronics engineering, which is a combination of different fields of engineering. As a combination of mechanical, electrical-electronics and computer engineering, the mechatronics engineering studies on the design and production of functional smart systems and products to be beneficial to humanity and industry.

Vision

To be one of the leading departments in the fields of Mechatronics and related engineerings with its national and international competitive contribution to science and technology.

Target of the Program

Mission

To train engineers who are equipped with knowledge and skills in the fields of Mechatronics Engineering and related disciplines, able to follow new technologies and developments, capable of questioning, able to develop new designs, benefit the society, environmentally friendly and respectful of human rights.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

According to the mission of Mechatronics Engineering program, the following program educational objectives are career and professional accomplishments that our expected to be achieved by our graduates within a few years of their graduation:

1. Establish a successful career in mechatronics engineering in leading and prominent organizations

2. Gain advancement in their careers through professional development activities and pursue of higher education

3. Develop a variety of relationships in international working environments which will contribute to the respect and appreciation to the other individuals and the society

4. Practice in mechatronics engineering in a broad range of industries

The objective of Istanbul Gelişim University, Department of Mechatronics Engineering is to raise well-equipped engineers about all parts of smart systems that re-shape the life and industry, system controlling mechanisms and computers, who have practical experience in addition to their theoretical know-how.

The graduates of this department consist of engineers that have detailed information in their field of expertise with a capacity to follow-up with global developments about the sector with their fund of knowledge and foreign language proficiency and apply them in their environments, and to perform life-easing, environment-friendly product designs.

Career Opportunities

In our day that we witness transition to smart systems, which is considered as a revolution in the industry; mechatronics engineers are needed in all parts where production and technology are applicable. Having pretty wide career opportunities, mechatronics engineers are offered employment opportunities in various fields including the automotive industry, design and production of robots oriented to different sectors, industrial automation, smart sensors, weapons and weapon systems, electromechanical systems, etc.

in addition academical career, students who graduate from our program can find oppurtinities in many sectors such as robotic industry, production plants which has electronics, computer and mechanical parts, factories, automotive companies, telecommunication companies, equipment manufacturing firms.

Student Outcomes (SOs)

Our BSc program in Mechatronics Engineering strives to ensure that our students attain the following outcomes:

1.An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, sciences, and mathematics.

2.An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public healt, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social environmental, and economic factors.

3.An ability to communicate effectively with a range audiences

4.An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

5.An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.

6.An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

7.An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies

Future of the Department

Nowadays, when technology is developing very rapidly, it is seen that the use of technologies  related with artificial intelligence and smart systems increased to very wide areas. The rapidly developing technologies in the machinery, electronics, computer hardware, and software sectors accelerate the transition to intelligent systems in the industry. Mechatronics Engineering Departments were established to meet the need for technical personnel in these fields by taking their place in the industry, additionally to provide the necessary software, hardware and design infrastructure to the graduates of the department . Its importance is increasing day by day with the use of smart systems and new generation technologies.

Who Should Choose

Nowadays when there is a transition period to smart systems considered a revolution in the industry, it is a department that will be preferred by people who follow current technological developments and are interested in fields such as robotics and artificial intelligence technologies, automation systems, health technologies, defense industry, automotive industry and want to make a career in these fields.
