OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
This course aims to provide the students with an idea about transformative power of media on societies and grasp the concepts of media, society, culture and identity. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
Contents of the course include defining concepts of media, society, culture, identity and reveal the relation between industrial society, information society, network society, virtual society and media with reference to different periods of humanity. Readings will be made on the power of media and alternative media, and the power of media on societies will be discussed. Finally, theories on new media and the future of societies will be examined. |
