OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To create a theoretical knowledge that will form the basis of the basic orthosis concept, its aims, and orthotic approaches that are frequently used in lower-upper extremity and trunk pathologies; After lower and upper extremity amputations, it is aimed to provide basic information about prostheses to be applied in accordance with the level of amputation and the use of assistive devices.
Contents of the Course Unit: Definition and classification of orthoses, lower extremity pathologies and orthoses used, spinal pathologies and orthoses, upper extremity pathologies and orthoses used, causes and levels of lower and upper extremity amputations, basic information on prosthesis applications according to amputation levels, different prosthesis applications, correct prosthesis applications , mobility assist devices.

Can define the orthosis.
Will be able to list the usage purposes and targets of orthoses.
Explain the usage period, maintenance and applicability of orthoses on the patient.
Define orthotic approaches for common pathologies in trunk, lower and upper extremities.
Explain the basic concepts of prosthesis.
List the lower and upper extremity amputation levels.
Explain the prosthesis applications that can be applied according to the lower and upper extremity amputation levels.
Knows prosthetic components applied according to lower and upper extremity amputation levels.
