OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to examine the concept of democracy, different conceptions of democracy, the distinction between public/private spheres and the impact of digitalization on these concepts at a theoretical level and to understand them through mutual discussion.
Contents of the Course Unit: In this course, firstly the concept of democracy will be defined. Different conceptions of democracy, and the concepts of public space/private, which is one of the important discussion areas of today's democracies, will be explained. The impact of new political movements, digitalization and relevant concepts will be examined and the impact of all these concepts and phenomena on Turkey will be evaluated.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

The student understands the concept of democracy and different understandings of democracy and can make comparisons.
The student can make comparative analysis of the concepts of public space and private space, the differences between them and within the scope of the literature.
Evaluate the impact of digitalization on political participation and public and private sphere discussions.
