OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to review the development process of nursing profession from past to present and to gain knowledge about ethical principles.
Contents of the Course Unit: Historical Development of Nursing, First Age in Patient Care, Intermediate Care of the Patient Age, Patient Care in the New Age, Near Patient Care Age, Florence Nightingale and modern nursing, Florence Nightingale and Modern Nursing, Nursing in Turkey, Nursing Schools, Nursing Education and Turkey Development, Philosophy of Nursing.

Explains the establishment of modern nursing.
Explains patient care functions from the early ages to the present.
Examines the professionalization process of nursing.
Establishes a connection between the past and the future of the profession.
Explains the concepts of ethics-ethics-deontology in nursing profession.
Explains human, health, patient and their rights.
Explains the importance of professional ethics.
Explains legal responsibilities.
Examines the structure and duties of ethics committees.
