OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to gain knowledge and skills about the basic concepts and principles of surgery and systematic care in preoperative-intraoperative-postoperative processes.
Contents of the Course Unit: Nursing Care in Fluid-Electrolyte and Acid-Base Imbalances and Shock in Surgery, Nursing Care Before, During and After Surgery, Nursing Care in Wound and Burn, Nursing Care in Surgical Infections, Surgical Diseases of the Nervous System and Nursing Care, Surgical Diseases of the Cardiovascular System and Nursing Care, Surgical Diseases of the Respiratory System and Nursing Care, Surgical Diseases of the Digestive System and Nursing Care, Breast Diseases and Nursing Care, Surgical Diseases of the Endocrine System and Nursing Care, Surgical Diseases of the Musculoskeletal System and Nursing Care, Surgical Diseases of the Urinary System and Nursing Care and Nursing Care in Tissue/Organ Transplantations.

Describe the basic concepts and classifications of surgery.
Know surgical treatment methods and apply the associated nursing care techniques
Know the possible complications and about nursing responsibilities after surgery
Apply nursing process during preoperative, perioperative and postoperative
Provide training and consultancy services to patients and their families at all stages of surgical treatment
Use acquired knowledge and skills for solving problems in different situations
