Objectives of the Course Unit: | This course aims to enable the students to understand and explain basic sociological concepts by obtaining a sociological perspective, to distinguish sociological phenomena both as an institution and as a network of interaction in the process of change and to interpret the meaning, pattern and processes in the global world by using sociological knowledge and to explain the function of research. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | Contents of the course include the emergence of sociology as science, its development and function of sociology in the global era, sociological research methods, social groups and formal organizations, culture and socialization, social status and social roles, social stratification and social classes, politics, family and social gender, economic life, social deviation and basic concepts of crime, discussion in the historical-cultural context of modernization and globalization. |
