OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To teach the notions related to economic history and to bring historical perspective in economic analysis.
Contents of the Course Unit: The subject of the history of economics as a field of science, Agricultural Revolution and its results, ancient economies, world and European economy in the middle ages, mercantilism, Industrial Revolution and its results, changes and transformations in the world economy after the Industrial Revolution, the reconstruction of the world economy after the Great Depression and the world wars is covered.

Defining and discussing the basic notions of economic history.
Understanding the importance of economic history.
Bringing historical perspective in economic analysis.
To be able to comprehend the factual process in the economic and social changes created by the Agricultural Revolution and later the Industrial Revolution in the world economy.
