OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of this course is to ensure students to have the knowledge about mythology and a general understanding of the Turkish mythology. In addition to providing the significant elements in Turkish mythology through texts, the course also aims to teach the students how to relate those with other cultural elements.
Contents of the Course Unit: Basic concepts about mythology, mythological schools and theories, Turkish mythology, limits of the Turkish mythology, its sources, and information about important aspects in Turkish mythology such as numbers, colors and animals.

Define the scope of mythology.
Relate Turkish mythology with other mythologies.
Examine the texts of mythology.
Compare the relationships between mythology and daily life, beliefs and customs.
Explain the cultural setting of Turkish mythology.
Interpret how to handle the texts about Turkish Mythology.
