OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To learn the historical development of hotel management, to know the general characteristics of hotel businesses, to understand the operation of management organization activities in hotel businesses and to have information about the current situation of modern hotel management.
Contents of the Course Unit: This course includes the functions of the accommodation sector in the tourism industry, types of accommodation businesses, basic functions such as management-organization, financing, accounting, service operations and marketing in hotel businesses, classification of hotel businesses, departments of hotel businesses.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain the place and importance of hotel management in tourism industry.
Know the historical development of hotel management and defines the characteristics of hotel management.
Classify hotel business according to the features.
Demonstrate organizational skills in hotel business.
List the departments of hotel businesses, the duties and responsibilities of departments.
Demonstrate the ability to form the organizational structure of a hotel business.
