OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to introduce theorical approaches used for analysing foreign policy and process in foreign policy and its application and improve aptitude for evaluating foreign policies of states with a critical way approach.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include rise of foreign policy analysis, theories used in foreign policy, foreign policy analysis units and levels, relation between safety-foreign policy, foreign policy strategies, leader’s role, effects of systematic factors to foreign policy, effects of psychological and sociological factors to foreign policy, media and pressure groups.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Distinguish the causal logics of competing theories of foreign policy
Classify different approaches used in foreign policy analysis
Demonstrate cause-effect relationship between internal and external factors affecting foreign policy making process
Critically analyze the influence of the leader's psychology, character and interests on foreign policy
Discuss the effects of sociological and psychological factors as well as international system on foreign policy making
