OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
Introduction to Architectural Design I course aims to provide students with the ability to produce information through creative methods, as opposed to the method of explaining and testing quantitative information they received in their previous education. It aims to teach discussing experiential and intuitive knowledge as well as quantitative and qualitative knowledge. It introduces students to the stages of proposing, critically developing and presenting a project, which are parts of the art and design production process. It aims to provide students with the ability to diversify and develop the work on the same subject or method and to foresee possible alternatives through the trial-and-error method. It aims for the student to take responsibility for their project, learn to manage their own process, and embrace the studio culture. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
Introduction to Architectural Design 1 course is designed as a compilation of Basic Design, Introduction to Architecture and Building Information courses. The course is taught in various short projects that have parallel values but aim to provide different course outcomes. Projects where they can discuss composition, fiction, aesthetics, structure, volume and abstraction within the scope of Basic Design; Projects within the scope of Introduction to Architecture in which they can gain the ability to understand the concept of space, construct space, design spatial components, and establish the body-space relationship; Within the scope of Building Information, projects are produced where they can learn spatial organization, building components, function, user and location information. It is expected from the current course instructors to devise project topics that can provide these course outcomes. |
