OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
Teaching students the basic knowledge about matter and ideas and concepts for understanding chemical changes; Explaining the basic structure of atoms, ions and molecules; Explaining basic chemistry and thermochemistry concepts and principles; To provide the correlation between basic principles & concepts of chemistry and engineering with their applications. Each subject will be explained in detail according to the bachelor program. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
Introduction to Chemistry, Properties of the Matter and Their Measurement, Atoms and Atomic Theory, Chemical Compounds, Chemical Reactions, Introduction to Aqueous Solution Reactions, Acids and Bases, pH , Gases, Thermochemistry, Electrons in Atoms, Periodic Table and Some Atomic Properties, Chemical Bonding: Basic Concepts and Additional Aspects, Intramolecular Forces: Liquids and Solids, Solutions and Their Physical Properties |

The students who take the course will be able to;
Have knowledge about the basic principles and theories of the chemistry. |
Have a general understanding of the structure of matter. |
Understand interdisciplinary work concept (chemistry- engineering). |
Do calculations, solve problems and in relation to these do experiments in chemistry. |
