OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of the Digital Electronics course is to enable students to recognize number systems and codes, understand the operation of logic circuits, and gain the ability to design digital circuits using combinational logic circuit elements.
Contents of the Course Unit: Number systems and codes used in logic circuits. Transformations between number bases. Operation of logic circuits. Relationship between Boolean expressions and logic circuits and simplifying expressions using Karnaugh maps. Electrical properties of circuit elements used in logic circuits. Digital circuit design with adder, comparator, decoder, encoder, multiplexer and demultiplexers.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Defines the basic concepts of digital electronics.
Solves number systems and codes related to digital logic circuits.
Interprets logic gates and their operation.
Arrange to understand Boolean mathematics and karnough diagrams and simplification of digital logic circuits.
