OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: In this course, it is aimed to gain knowledge and attitudes about the analysis, design and implementation of curricula and plans applied in preschool education institutions.
Contents of the Course Unit: Definition and history of curriculum in early childhood education, developmentally appropriate practices, historical and theoretical influences on early childhood curriculum, current curriculum models in early childhood education, Turkish ECE program.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Recognize characteristics of an effective early childhood program.
Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
Have the knowledge of the history of early childhood education and its impact on current practices in the field.
Have the knowledge about the characteristics and principles of Turkish Early Childhood Education Program.
Investigate other curriculum approaches of early childhood education.
Recognize the contents of Turkish Early Childhood Education Program.
Identify and address state and national standards for early childhood education and content areas as developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood education.
Develop an integrated activity plan for the early childhood level.
Demonstrate ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities in terms of learning process, adaptation, parent involvement and evaluation.
