OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to provide information and attitude on comprehending and applying the basic methods used in the evaluation of orthopedic problems requiring or not requiring surgery and musculoskeletal system injuries, and on selecting and applying the most appropriate physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches specific to the pathology and the surgical procedure performed.
Contents of the Course Unit: General treatment principles of fractures and physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches following various types of fractures; conservative management of conditions leading to joint degeneration such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, as well as rehabilitation principles following joint replacement surgeries such as endoprostheses; rehabilitation of shoulder joint pathologies including rotator cuff tendinitis and tears, bursitis, and periarthritis; rehabilitation of patellofemoral pain syndrome, ligament injuries, and meniscal injuries of the knee.

Describes orthopedic problems.
Explains musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative joint diseases.
Describes points to be considered during the post-operative period of orthopedic surgical methods.
Applies general and pathology-specific measurement and evaluation methods in orthopedic problems.
Organizes the most suitable physiotherapy and rehabilitation program for the patient's condition and pathology, whether they have undergone orthopedic surgery or not.
Explains general treatment principles for musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions in orthopedics, as well as the need for physiotherapy and rehabilitation in such cases.
