OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To explain mechanism, types of disease, physiotherapy and rehabilitation needs, causes and treatment characteristics of rheumatic diseases to the undergraduate students of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and with showing practically to increase knowledge and skills needed by physical therapist in rheumatologic rehabilitation.
Contents of the Course Unit: Pathophysiology of rheumatic disease, assessment procedures and treatment approaches, preventive services, management of disease process and coping skills, recognize different rheumatic disease and necessary treatment approaches.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Gains the knowledge about the pathophysiology of rheumatic disease.
Recognizes the differences between the diseases and the characteristics of the disease.
Performs assessments of physiotherapy and rehabilitation
Determines the need for physiotherapy and rehabilitation level, the appropriate treatment approaches and practises the application.
Guides patient about the necessary recommendations and preventive approaches to go on better quality of his/her life.
Takes active part in the management of diseases process.
To be as a health professional, suggest consulting and directing about additional problems.
