OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Definition and Terminology Related to Being with Special Needs; Main Groups with Special Needs: Individuals with intellectual disabilities, Individuals with pervasive developmental disorders, Individuals with hearing loss, Individuals with visual impairments, Individuals with language and speech disorders, Gifted individuals, Those with learning disabilities, Individuals with emotional-behavioral problems; Educational Initiatives Applied to Individuals with Special Needs; Special education; Inclusion and Support Special Education Services; Special Education in Early Childhood and Preschool Periods;

Discusses special education and its foundations.
Discuss laws and regulations related to special education
Analyzes the relationship between parents, family and specialist in case of an individual with special needs in the family and the emotions experienced in the family.
Will be able to define early childhood special education and its applications.
Will be able to define different types of disabilities.
Discuss the causes, characteristics, prevalence rates, appropriate educational practices and problems in different types of disabilities.
Discuss the basic principles of establishing and maintaining effective collaboration.
