OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to provide information on the protection and development of elderly health, early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services.
Contents of the Course Unit: Definition and Classification of Aging, Theories of Aging, Demographic Status of Aging in the World and in our Country, Age-Related Changes in System Functions and Nursing Care, Aging Problems in General, Musculoskeletal Diseases (Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis) and Nursing Approaches, Mental Health Problems and Nursing Care, Psychosocial Needs, Drug Use in Elderly Patients, Elderly Abuse and Evaluation of Ethical Aspects of Elderly Care, Health and Social Services Offered to Elderly People in Our Country, Aged Care Institutions and Organizations.

Explains the biopsychosocial changes in old age.
Evaluates the health of the elderly individual.
Applies the care of the elderly person in line with the nursing process.
