OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of the course is to provide the students with the knowledge and skills that they can use in the field of sports to explain the current theories of leadership concept and the relation of psycho-socio-cultural contents that frame the concept and the basic information about leadership skills.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; definition of leadership, history of leadership, basic components of leadership, ability, role and characteristics of leadership, philosophical examination of leadership behavior, leadership psychology, evaluation of leadership in sport sciences and management, classical and modern leadership approaches, sport-oriented interaction approaches to leadership, coaching, mentoring and leadership, , development of leadership and development of leadership through sports.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Define basic concepts related with leadership.
Explain the importance of leadership in management science.
Summarize the historical development process of leadership.
Review the psycho-socio-cultural contents that cover the leadership process, and explain the relationship and integrity of these contents with one another.
Use basic knowledge about leadership skills in sports practices.
