OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of the course is to provide the students with the knowledge to compare the fair play understanding and practices between amateur and professional athletes and to exemplify fair play understanding through behavioral models of athletes.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include concept of fair play, its scope and historical development; principles and analysis of fair play ideals; international fair play organizations and their works; problem areas in fair play and development studies; ideal of Olympism and fair play; fair play in amateur and professional sports; behavioral models suitable with the fair play ideal and reference groups responsible for fair play.

Define the concept of fair play.
Explain fair play understanding and its historical progress.
Discuss the philosophy of Olympism and explain its relation with fair play understanding.
Illustrate fair play understanding through the behavioral models of the athletes.
Compare the difference between fair play understanding and practice between amateur and professional athletes.
