Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach students the fundamental principles of medical device technologies, the operating mechanisms, application areas, maintenance, calibration, and safety processes of devices used in the healthcare field. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to become familiar with the basic structure of biomedical devices, learn the operating principles of medical devices such as patient monitors, imaging systems, laboratory and life support devices, understand their importance in clinical applications, and also gain knowledge about quality standards in device use, patient and employee safety, medical device legislation, and digital health technologies.
Content: The Introduction to Medical Device Technologies course comprehensively covers the classification, operating principles, and applications of medical devices in healthcare. Topics covered include biomedical electronics, sensor technologies, ECG, EEG and EMG systems, patient monitors, imaging devices (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound), intensive care and life support devices, laboratory and surgical equipment, and the maintenance, calibration, and safety processes for these devices.
