Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim of this course is to equip students with knowledge of real-time biomedical data monitoring, big data and AI-based analysis approaches, data security and privacy, standards and regulations, and to enable them to apply this knowledge to health informatics applications.
Content: The course content covers the following topics: Data structure and basic analysis methods from remote monitoring systems, real-time data monitoring and clinical interpretation, identification of clinically significant parameters and risk classification, alarm systems: threshold values, prioritization, false alarm issues, introduction to clinical decision support systems and integration with remote monitoring, exemplification of AI-powered decision support systems, patient safety, emergency response scenarios and system response in critical situations, quality, reliability and maintenance criteria of remote monitoring systems, user-friendly interfaces and patient-professional communication mechanisms, system design and configuration for different patient profiles (child, elderly, chronic, etc.), scenario-based evaluation and solution suggestions with real cases, next-generation technologies: IoT, wearable devices and advanced systems.
