Objectives: |
This course is an introduction to Arabic elements in Ottoman Turkish. The aim of the course is to comprehend the structural features of Arabic and word derivation logic. Throughout the semester, it is aimed that students will improve their reading and understanding skills of Ottoman Turkish texts and increase their level of readiness for further reading. |
Content: |
The course includes the Arabic grammatical structures used in Ottoman Turkish and the reading of printed texts written at the beginning of the 20th century and their transfer to contemporary Turkish with the transcription alphabet. In this course, numerology calculus and application areas are explained with examples. Students also learn the names of the days / months in Persian and Arabic. |
