| Objectives: | The objective of this course is to provide the students a conceptual perspective on mythology and to help them to comprehend the concepts of saga and legend which are similar to each other. The course also aims that students make practical examination with sample texts of these literary genres. At the end of the course students are expected to comprehend the relationship between mythology and forms of saga and legend. |
| Content: | Concepts of myth and mythology, Turkish mythology, the emergence of the saga, concept of saga, pre-Islamic Turkish sagas, Turkish sagas in the Islamic period, the relation of sagas with other literary genres, the concept of legend, definition of legend, the sources and characteristics of legends, relation of legend with other literary genres, analysis of saga and legend texts. |
