Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim of the course is to teach the students the concept of equilibrium, i.e., statics, and the calculation of material strength and deformation properties due to forces-moments acting on bodies.
Content: Introduction, force and moment, equilibrium in two dimensions, center of gravity, equilibrium of rigid bodies, trusses and frames, cables, friction, sectional effects, normal force, torsion, shear and bending, elastic stability, plane stress.
