Objectives and Contents

Objectives: To teach the effects of compressibility on aerodynamic phenomena in high-speed subsonic flows and their calculations, the calculation methods for vertical shock, oblique shock and expansion waves in supersonic flows, and the numerical methods for calculations in supersonic flows.
Content: Thermodynamic reminders. Equations for compressible one-dimensional flows, normal shock waves. Oblique shock and expansion waves. Squat one-dimensional flows. Flows in pipes and wind tunnels. Linearized theory for compressible potential flows. Correction formulas for subsonic compressible flows. Linearized theory for supersonic flows. Characteristics method for supersonic flows.
