Objectives: | The primary course objective is to develop a fundamental understanding of the origins and magnitude of aerodynamic forces and moments, primarily on aircraft where they provide the lift and balance needed to fly, and to develop methodologies for modeling and prediction of such forces and moments. Students gain the background necessary to work on aeronautical and mechanical engineering projects within the aerospace industry. |
Content: | An introduction to aerodynamics including wing and airfoil theory, aircraft performance, and aircraft stability and control. Aerodynamics: Some Introductory Thoughts. Aerodynamics: Some Fundamental Principles and Equations. Fundamentals of Inviscid, Incompressible Flow. Incompressible Flow over Airfoils. Incompressible Flow over Finite Wings. Three-Dimensional Incompressible Flow |
