Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The Basic Photography II course, structured on theory and application processes, includes both planning and technical competence.
Content: The historical process of photography is examined. The lens types and the language of the lens are examined and applied. The subject of light and lighting is examined and applications are made. The subject of dramatic lighting is examined on the paintings of famous painters and practices are made. In the visual expression, the subject of color is examined by using examples. Two dimensional problems in photography are discussed and correct and wrong applications are made. Composition elements, narrow depth of field and atmospheric depth, tonal depth, position on the screen, planes falling on each other, depth with light, simplicity-clarity-complexity, vectors, graphic vectors, balance, frame building elements are examined and their applications are made. Composition elements, point, tone, line, shape, form, texture elements are examined and applied. Composition elements, contrast and similarity, motion, negative-positive space elements are examined and applied. Composition elements, depth, perspective elements are examined and applied. It is examined in terms of composition elements of important works of photographers. Outdoor and studio photo shoots are done. The students present their photos in the classroom at the end of the semester.
