Objectives and Contents

Objectives: Ensuring the acquisition of basic information about Archeology, which is one of the most important data sources of the Tourist Guiding profession. Raising awareness of its importance for the tourism sector
Content: What is archaeology: Definition, purpose, limits of archaeology; The relationship of archeology with other sciences: history, philology, geology, philosophy, zoology, botany and art history; A look at Anatolian archaeology: first research, archaeological studies that have survived to the present day. The emergence of the science of archaeology, its historical development, archeology in Turkey; A narrative covering archaeological research areas in Anatolia, archaeological discoveries in the world, methods of deciphering ancient inscriptions, excavations and types of excavations is envisaged. Fundamentals of an archaeological research: evaluation of ancient sources, archaeological, epigraphic and numismatic documents, Branches of Archeology: prehistory, protohistory, ancient near eastern archaeology.
