Objectives and Contents

Objectives: Music is a core subject in the preschool curriculum, helping children develop their cognitive, emotional and social skills. In most kindergartens, music lessons are taught by a music teacher and supported by the class teacher. However, music teaching departments do not offer any courses in pre-school music teaching, and many pre-school teachers do not have the necessary background and skills to support music education in their classrooms. This course aims to provide pre-school teachers with knowledge about why music education is important for young children, how to use various teaching methods and materials to make music lessons engaging and effective, and how to assist the music teacher during lessons.
Content: This course will introduce students to various teaching methods for preschool music education and how to adapt them to children with diverse cultural backgrounds and special needs. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand the objectives and content of a preschool music class, acquire basic musical skills and knowledge to assist the music teacher, and facilitate musical activities in and out of the classroom.
