AMAÇ VE İÇERİK
Amaç:	This course aims to provide a basic understanding of genres, authors, periods of the English literary canon, while helping students acquire a critical approach to any literary text.
İçerik:	This course provides a survey of literature produced in English language from its earlier days to 17th century. Literary text studied along the course are analysed in relation to their historical and cultural contexts.

recognise literary styles, genres and periods specifically in Classical, Early and Middle English texts.
apply preliminary textual analysis to works of Aristotle, Plato, Horace, Chaucer, Wycliffe, Sydney.
paraphrase key extracts from the classical texts in English literature.
compare and contrast seminal texts from different periods of English literature.
5. relate literary and artistic tendencies to different genres, periods, authors and theories in academic discussions.
