AMAÇ VE İÇERİK

Amaç: This course aims to provide a basic understanding of genres, authors, periods of the English literary canon, while helping students acquire a critical approach to any literary text.
İçerik: This course provides a survey of literature produced in English language from Early Modern period to the twentieth century.

categorise literary styles, genres and periods specifically in Early Modern, Augustan, Victorian and The Twentieth Century English literature.
apply preliminary textual analysis to works of Shakespeare, Milton, Donne, Swift, Defoe, Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelley.
paraphrase key extracts from Early Modern and following periods.
compare and contrast seminal texts written before and after Renaissance.
evaluate literary and artistic tendencies to different genres, periods, authors and theories in academic discussions.
