AMAÇ VE İÇERİK

Amaç: This course aims to enable students to analyse realist and picaresque novels written in 19th century by putting under scrutiny the theoretical, literary, economic, social, and political developments occurring in 18th and 19th century.
İçerik: This course covers analyses of the (selected) novels from 19th century and theoretical texts from the 20th century as secondary sources.

apply feminist theories to the realist texts in a research paper.
relate the authors’ use of language, writing style, and narrative techniques to the developments occurring in literature in relation to the theoretical, literary, social and political context of the 19th century in a research paper.
compare and contrast realist novels and picaresque novels in terms of their distinctive features verbally or in a research paper.
estimate the general economic, social, and political structure of both 18th and 19th century through the analysis of a realist or picaresque novel written in 18th and 19th century.
explain the development of the novel genre from the beginning of the 18th century to the late 19th century verbally or in an essay.
