AMAÇ VE İÇERİK

Amaç: This course aims at introducing the key concepts in postcolonial studies and the profound global effects of colonialism. The students will be asked to relate history, language, location and culture to the postcolonial theory and write an argumentative essay reflecting issues such as decolonization, indigenous culture, social representation nation and narration.
İçerik: This course deals with the diversity of cultural development, social and political practices and experiences in postcolonial studies as well as the issues such as decolonization, indigenous culture, social representation nation and narration.

explain the key concepts in postcolonial studies such as orientalism, transnationalism, mimicry, and hybridity.
distinguish colonial, anti-colonial, and postcolonial in postcolonial studies both as concepts and specific periods of time.
discuss the profound global effects of colonialism and relate history, language, location and culture to the postcolonial theory.
develop arguments and interpret literary text produced in previously colonized countries in Africa, Asia, the America and the Caribbean.
discuss the diversity of cultural development, social and political practices and experiences in postcolonial studies.
write an argumentative essay reflecting issues such as decolonization, indigenous culture, social representation nation and narration.
