OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS
Objectives of the Course Unit:	1. Understand Literary Terms: Learn and use basic literary terms related to fiction, poetry, and drama correctly. 2. Analyze Style for Translation: Identify how authors use word choice, narrative voice, tone, and figures of speech in literary texts. 3. Connect Context to Meaning: Understand how different historical periods (such as Renaissance or Romanticism) shape the way a text is written. 4. Develop Cultural and Textual Awareness: Recognize cultural nuances, subtext, and underlying meanings that are critical when translating literature. 5. Express Your Analysis Clearly: Share your literary observations and interpretations clearly in both class discussions and written assignments.
Contents of the Course Unit:	This course is designed for first-year Translation and Interpreting students to introduce the basics of British and American literature. Throughout the semester, you will explore essential literary genres, including short stories, poetry, and drama. Rather than focusing only on story summary, we will examine how authors use language, tone, style, and cultural background. By learning how literary texts work, you will build strong critical reading skills that are directly useful for translation.
