OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Purpose of the course; To explain the concept of public opinion in its historical development, to reveal approaches on the relationship between public opinion and media, and to evaluate the public-media relationship with a critical approach in the context of public opinion research.
Contents of the Course Unit: The scope of the course includes the concept of public opinion, its historical development, basic approaches to the concept of public opinion, the relationship between media and public opinion, approaches to media and public opinion, and public opinion research.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Within the scope of the course, students; They will have information about the elements of public opinion, its complementary qualities, historical development and theoretical approaches regarding public opinion. In addition to learning the psychological factors and institutions that are effective in the formation of public opinion, they will also learn about the definition, function, importance and purpose of public opinion research, its development in the world and in Turkey, criticisms of public opinion research, the importance of political public opinion research and its direct and indirect effects on political behavior.
