OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The main purpose of this course is to introduce the intellectual movements that were effective in Turkish literature and culture after the Tanzimat Period, to examine the theoretical texts about the intellectual movements, to analyze the literary texts that were influenced by the intellectual movements.
Contents of the Course Unit: It includes the reformation movements of the Tanzimat period and their reflections on Turkish literature, the effects of the westernization process on literary genres, Westernism, Ottomanism, Islamism and Turkism movements. In order to better understand the Tanzimat Period, the developments that took place in the Ottoman Empire from the 17th century were also included in the course content.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

At the end of this course, students recognize the intellectual movements that were effective in Turkish literature and culture after the Tanzimat.
At the end of this course, students order the intellectual movements that influenced Turkish literature after the Tanzimat.
At the end of this course, students distinguish between Westernism, Ottomanism, Islamism and Turkism movements and their representatives.
At the end of this course, students explain the effects of the Westernization process on literary genres.
At the end of this course, students examine the works of artists belonging to Turkish literature, taking into account their intellectual movements.
