OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to inform the students about the development, characteristics and usage areas of social media, which is one of the most important communication tools of the 21st century.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the development process of the concept of social media, the differences between social media and traditional media and the basic characteristics of the social media concept.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

List at least 5 of the main differences between social media and traditional media.
Differentiate the advantages and disadvantages of media based on the presentations prepared.
Discuss the role of social media with a critical perspective through a current and social event.
Examine social media within framework of theories by adapting the theories of traditional media to social media.
Can explain the relationship between social media and public relations.
