OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to improve aptitude for analyzing the state concept and types of states, governmental systems and democracy concepts after the constitution concept is examined within the scope of general principles in constitution law. It also aims to improve aptitude for evaluating constitutional developments in Ottoman Empire, constitutional developments in Republic Period, fundamental rights and freedoms originated from 1982 Constitution, restrictions of them under the title Turkish constitutional law and characteristics of principle organs of Turkish Government.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the birth of constitutional concept, development of it and constitutional movements in Turkey together with constitutional systems in principal states of the world, the legal system originated from 1982 Constitution in comparison with Turkish constitutions applied in previous periods.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

1. Explain systematics and basic concepts of constitution law. (1)
2. Describe the formation process of constitution by using primary constituent power and derived constituent power concepts. (2)
3. Compare and contrast different types of states in a critical approach. (4)
4. Illustrate differences among different types of states, legal structures and regimes with legal concepts and indicate them. (3)
5. Name and state systematic form of basic rights and liberties and basic rights and liberties protected by Turkish Republic Constitution. (1)
6. Interpret basic organs and principles taking role in the running of Turkish Republic over current reforms and legal developments. (2)
