OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to analyze the traffic flows on urban roads, to identify the problems at various types of intersections and to develop solution options.
Contents of the Course Unit: It includes the following topics; traffic flow and its components, main relations of traffic flow, statistical properties of traffic flow, traffic studies and evaluations, counting and observation methods, survey and estimation methods, intersections, accident points, factors in intersection design, intersection types and capacities, signaling methods, single intersection signaling, coordinated signalized main roads, classification of signalized road networks, traffic signs.

To be able to gain the knowledge of the basic components and concepts of road traffic
An ability to solving problems related to the design of urban traffic facilities
An ability for urban traffic management and solutions to urban traffic problems
