OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to gain knowledge, attitude and skills related to intensive care nursing.
Contents of the Course Unit: The Concept and Features of Intensive Care, Design and Features of the Intensive Care Unit, Features and Responsibilities of the Wound Care Nurse, Approach to Bedridden Patients and Nursing in Intensive Care, Pressure Sores, Monitorization, Basic ECG, Mechanical Ventilator and Nursing Care, Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support , Sedation and Analgesia Applications.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Recognize vehicles and equipment for intensive care unit.
Explain basic and advanced life support applications
Define the complications that may develop in bedridden patient.
Define conditions for systems that require intensive care.
Distinguish criteria to be followed in the intensive care patients.
Use tools and equipment in intensive care unit.
Practice the necessary interventions in emergency situations that arise in the intensive care unit.
Apply aseptic technique.
Co-operate with Intensive care team.
Monitor intensive care patient.
