Objectives and Contents

Objectives: To gain enough knowledge and practice international conventions and their regulations national legislation, to give the student effect of these conventions on maritime affairs.To gain enough knowledge and practice in order to defend and protect related legal rights and interests and to avoid and overcome probable legal disputes and problems resulted from ship and maritime
Content: The responsibilities related with Loadline convention. The responsibilities related with SOLAS. The responsibilities related with MARPOL 73/78The methods and tools to prevent the vessel based pollutions of environment of the seas. The national legislations which are related with application of the international conventionsShip, registration of ship, flag, ship owner, captain. Maritime penal/criminal law, regulations regarding sea pollution international law of the sea, internal waters, territorial waters, contiguous zone, blockade, embargo. Maritime labour and social security law. Maritime commercial law, branches, sources, historical development and specifications of maritime law. Regulations regarding shipping law ship seaworthiness, port of registry. Registrations. Captain (Master) definition duties, authorizations and liabilities of master. Shipowner, disponent owner, limited and/or unlimited liabilities, Carriage contracts (contract of affretments) Carrier, liabilities and limitations.
