Objectives and Contents

Objectives: It is aimed to gain knowledge regarding the basic functions of human physiological systems, the characteristics of cell physiology, the physiological mechanisms of the muscular, blood, circulatory, respiratory, and urinary systems, and the evaluation of pregnancy and metabolic processes.
Content: Introduction to human physiology and the concept of homeostasis, cell structure and functional organization, cell membrane and membrane transport, intercellular communication, resting and action potentials, muscle physiology and mechanisms of contraction, composition and physiological functions of blood, blood groups, transfusion and hemostasis, immune system and clinical hematology, cardiac physiology and regulation of the circulatory system, blood pressure and cardiac output, structure of the urinary system and regulation of fluid–electrolyte and acid–base balance, functional anatomy of the respiratory system, respiratory mechanics and ventilation–perfusion relationships, physiology of pregnancy, the newborn and aging, regulation of metabolism and body temperature.
