Objectives and Contents

Objectives: This course aims to teach the basic components of aircraft systems, including avionics, electrical power, cabin equipment, fire protection systems and related assembly processes. Students will gain basic knowledge and skills in aircraft maintenance and repair by studying the structure, operation and maintenance requirements of these systems from an academic perspective.
Content: he course begins with the basic layout principles and operation of avionics systems, and covers the operating principles of automatic flight, communication and navigation systems. Electrical power generation systems, batteries, DC/AC power generation, emergency power systems and power distribution systems are emphasised. Operation of power management components such as voltage regulation, inverters, transformers and rectifiers are explained. Cabin equipment and furnishings, emergency equipment, cabin layout, entertainment systems and cargo equipment are also covered in detail. Critical safety systems such as fire protection systems, fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing mechanisms and portable fire extinguishers are also covered.
